India and Bhutan have reviewed bilateral security cooperation and border management issues, including mobile signal spillover, future roadmap for Integrated Check Posts, maintenance of boundary pillars, and cross-border movement.

Several important issues were discussed between the two neighbouring nations during the 14th India-Bhutan meeting on Border Management and Security held in Thimphu, Bhutan, on October 16–17. The discussions also included capacity-building initiatives for the Bhutan Police.

Reaffirming their strong friendship, the two nations have committed to deepening cooperation across traditional and emerging areas.

The enduring partnership, rooted in shared geography, culture, and people-to-people ties, continues to serve as a model for regional cooperation.

Notably, the last such meeting was held in 2019.

The Indian delegation was led by Dr Rajendra Kumar, Secretary, Department of Border Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, while the Bhutanese side was headed by Sonam Wangyel, Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The delegation included officials from the border guarding force Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Land Ports Authority of India, Department of Telecommunications, Narcotics Control Bureau, Survey of India, Customs, and representatives from Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Following the meeting, both delegations expressed satisfaction at the cordial and constructive discussions, while reiterating their resolve to work together to ensure a safe, secure, and prosperous border region.
